RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances) is a European Union (EU) directive that bans lead (Pb) and certain other materials in electrical and electronic equipment. This directive took effect on July 1, 2006.

The RoHS directive bans the following substances:

Lead and its compounds

Mercury and its compounds

Cadmium or cadmium compounds

Hexavalent Chromium and its compounds

PBB (polybromobiphenyl)

PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ethers)

All OmniVision products are compliant with the EU's RoHS directive.
