Effective today, Mr. Shaw Hong has resigned his position as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMNIVISION Technologies (OVT). Moving forward, Mr. Hong will assume the position of Chairman Emeritus (of the Board) and Chairman of OMNIVISION’s Strategic Development Committee.
Mr. Hong is well-respected as one of the most accomplished entrepreneurs in the semiconductor industry. In 1995, Mr. Hong led the start-up team which founded OMNIVISION in Silicon Valley. He has grown the Company into a world-class fabless design enterprise. Everyone at OMNIVISION is profoundly honored to have worked alongside such a visionary leader.
The Board has accepted Mr. Hong’s resignation and has extended tremendous gratitude in recognition of Mr. Hong’s significant contributions and dedication to the Company, and is looking forward to continuing its partnership with him.
The Board has appointed Dr. Datong Chen as Interim Chief Executive Officer and appointed Dr. Henry Yang as OMNIVISION’s President and COO.
Dr. Datong Chen graduated from Tsinghua University and conducted his post-doctorate research at the University of Illinois and Stanford University. In 1995, he co-founded OVT. Since that time, he has been tremendously successful in a series of semiconductor start-ups and private equity investment funds. He is well respected as one of the top experts in the industry.
Dr. Henry Yang received his Ph.D. of Electronic Information from Tsinghua University. Dr. Yang joined OMNIVISION in 1996 and was appointed VP of Engineering in 2007, and subsequently appointed COO in February 2012. He has exemplary experience in operations and project management and has played an important leadership role in OMNIVISION’s success and industry prominence.
