High Performance OV2718 CameraChip™ Brings High Dynamic Range and Low-Light Sensitivity to Grain Media’s GM8136S System-on-Chip IP Camera Solution

LAS VEGAS — January 7, 2016 — OMNIVISION Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, and Grain Media Inc., a leading provider of surveillance SoC solutions, today announced the GM8136S system-on-chip (SoC) IP camera solution for security applications such as professional surveillance IP cameras, car DVRs, and home monitoring systems. Grain Media’s professional and consumer IP camera solution leverages the OV2718 for 1080p video capture at 30 frames per second, in high dynamic range (HDR) mode and with best-in-class low-light performance.

“The GM8136S is a fully integrated, single chip SoC IP camera solution that brings together an image sensor, digital streaming functionality, and storage,” said Alan Hsieh, President at Grain Media. “OMNIVISION’s industry-leading technology architecture enables unparalleled quality and reliability in their product portfolio, making their sensors ideal to support Grain Media’s next generation of professional and consumer surveillance products.”

“For the IP camera market, home surveillance is fast becoming an integral feature in mainstream security systems around the world,” said Chris Yiu, senior strategic marketing manager at OMNIVISION. “Grain Media is a leading developer of surveillance solutions, and we are proud to see our best-in-class OV2718 CameraChip™ sensor integrated into its GM8136S offering.”

Grain Media’s GM8136S IP camera solution delivers high resolution video with low bandwidth requirements, and has built-in ISP functions such as 3D de-noise, digital wide dynamic range, and low bit rate. The GM8136S fits in a 128 pin ePad-LQFP package supporting a 2‑layer printed circuit board design, making it easy for mass production and reduced total system cost.

Built on OMNIVISION’s OmniBSI™‑2 pixel architecture, the 1/3‑inch OV2718 utilizes the company’s inpixel HDR technology for best-in-class scene reproduction in high- and low-light environments, an essential feature for surveillance systems.
