OV9750 Utilizes Latest Frontside Illumination Technology to Capture HD Video with Enhanced Near-Infrared Performance
SANTA CLARA, Calif., — October 27, 2014 — OMNIVISION Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, today announced the latest addition to its lineup of security imaging solutions — the OV9750. Using OMNIVISION’s latest frontside illumination technology, the 1/3‑inch OV9750 can capture both visible and near-infrared (NIR) video in high definition (HD) format, a popular video resolution for analog 960H CCTVs, as well as HD analog and 720p HD IP cameras. These features make the OV9750 an attractive solution for a wide range of mainstream consumer and commercial security systems.
“The OV9750 reflects OMNIVISION’s ongoing commitment to developing innovative, high-performance imaging technologies for the fast-growing surveillance markets,” said Paul Gallagher, senior director of marketing and business development. “The OV9750, a dedicated security image sensor, comes to market at a time when traditional analog CCTV cameras are quickly transitioning to 960H resolutions. At the same time, HD analog and IP cameras continue to see strong consumer and commercial demand. Tailored for these market trends, the OV9750’s advanced capabilities are calculated to provide a considerable competitive advantage for surveillance solutions as the market continues to develop.”
Built on a 3.75‑micron OmniPixel®3‑HS pixel architecture, the OV9750 achieves excellent results in visible and NIR imaging applications, capturing clear images and video in both high-, low-, and ‘no-‘light environments. The sensor is capable of operating in SXGA (1280 x 960) resolution at 60 frames per second (fps) with 10‑bit output, or at 45 fps with 12‑bit output.
The OV9750 fits into a 6.3 mm x 5.2 mm package. It is currently available for sampling and is expected to enter volume production in the beginning of 2015.
